The Organization
Our client is an ambitious tech scale-up in the Utrecht region that is in full growth phase. The organization develops an innovative SaaS platform that is now used by thousands of users both domestically and internationally. The technology forms the backbone of their success — but to scale further, there is a need for a visionary CTO who brings together technology, strategy, and growth.
This scale-up has an entrepreneurial culture: short lines of communication, a lot of responsibility, and room for initiative. You work with a motivated team of developers, product owners, and data specialists who enjoy building smart, scalable solutions with impact.
The role
As CTO, you are ultimately responsible for the technological direction, architecture, and innovation of the platform. You work closely with the CEO and the management team on the further growth and internationalization of the organization.
You combine a strategic vision with a hands-on mentality — you can discuss long-term architecture while also understanding what is happening in the codebase.
Your responsibilities:
- Developing and executing the technological strategy in line with business goals.
- Leading, coaching, and expanding the tech team (developers, DevOps, QA, data).
- Monitoring software architecture, security, performance, and scalability.
- Bringing in innovation and technological renewal (AI, data, integrations, automation).
- Translating business goals into concrete technical roadmaps.
- Collaborating with investors, clients, and partners on strategic decisions.
Who You Are
- You have a background as a Lead Developer, Head of Engineering, or CTO within a SaaS, data, or software scale-up.
- Experience with cloud technology (AWS, Azure, or GCP), modern frontend/backend frameworks, and API architecture.
- Strong in people leadership and building cohesive, high-performing teams.
- Combines strategic insight with technical depth.
- Entrepreneurial, curious, and accustomed to working in a dynamic environment.
