SENIOR AZURE CLOUD &
INTEGRATION ENGINEER
International multi-site organization | Netherlands (hybrid)
The opportunity
This senior engineering role combines Azure cloud engineering, platform operations, and enterprise integration engineering. You will design, build, operate, and continuously improve secure, reliable, and scalable cloud and integration capabilities across an international organization.
The position has a strong hands-on focus while also providing technical leadership. You will help establish standards and reusable patterns, support local technical teams, and help modernize a complex hybrid technology landscape.
What You’ll Do
Design, operate, and improve Azure cloud and hybrid infrastructure, with responsibility for availability, performance, scalability, security, resilience, and cost management.
Support cloud strategy and implementation, including Azure Landing Zones, infrastructure harmonization, migration, modernization, and legacy system remediation.
Develop automated deployments and operational tools using Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code, preferably Bicep.
Advance operational excellence through automation, monitoring, FinOps, AIOps, self-service, incident management, disaster recovery, and business continuity practices.
Design, build, and operate integrations between ERP systems, business applications, SaaS platforms, cloud services, and external partners.
Build and evolve an Azure-native integration platform using API Management, Service Bus, Logic Apps, Functions, Key Vault, and Application Insights.
Create standard integration patterns, deployment templates, and reusable components that enable secure, monitored, and scalable solutions across business units.
Design and operate secure APIs, including authentication, authorization, versioning, throttling, lifecycle management, logging, monitoring, and error handling.
Contribute to cloud and architecture governance, technical standards, reference architectures, and roadmaps.
Identify and address technical debt, architectural risks, vulnerabilities, operational weaknesses, and single points of failure.
Provide third-line support for complex issues related to integration, connectivity, identity, APIs, messaging, performance, and deployment.
Coach technical specialists through guidance, reusable blueprints, runbooks, standards, and knowledge sharing.
Apply secure-by-design, least-privilege, and zero-trust principles, and ensure that solutions meet relevant security, data protection, and operational requirements.
What You Bring
Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure across cloud infrastructure, hybrid environments, identity, security, governance, monitoring, and backup.
Extensive experience in enterprise integration, including API design and lifecycle management, messaging, orchestration, event-driven architecture, and observability.
Practical expertise with Azure API Management, Service Bus, Logic Apps, Azure DevOps, Key Vault, and Application Insights.
A solid understanding of API security, including OAuth 2.0, certificates, secret management, throttling, and access control patterns.
Experience with CI/CD, deployment automation, and Infrastructure as Code; Bicep is preferred.
Gain experience operating business-critical cloud and integration services using incident, problem, change, and release management practices.
The ability to define and apply reference architectures, engineering standards, and reusable technical patterns.
Clear communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to mentor technical colleagues.
A pragmatic, collaborative, and improvement-oriented mindset, with a strong focus on quality, security, reliability, and knowledge sharing.
Experience and Qualifications
At least five years of relevant hands-on experience in Azure cloud, platform, integration, or infrastructure engineering, or IT operations within an international or multi-site environment.
Demonstrable experience operating both Azure cloud infrastructure and cloud-native integration solutions.
Practical experience with API Management, Service Bus, and Logic Apps. Experience with Azure Functions, App Services, and Application Insights is highly desirable.
Extensive experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and automated deployment practices.
Experience with cloud governance, Azure Landing Zones, hybrid cloud operations, security controls, and operational monitoring.
Experience in cloud migration, integration, modernization, infrastructure consolidation, or digital transformation is a plus.
Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications are strongly preferred, such as Azure Administrator, Azure Developer, Azure Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, or Azure Security Engineer.
